I just called Kaigal-ool Khovalyg, the leader of Huun-Huur-Tu, and all-around master musician. I fully understand that this is kind of like if I was traveling in New York back in the sixties and phoned John Coltrane asking for saxophone lessons. The degree of access I can have to musicians here is pretty remarkable.
Kaigal-ool is heading out of town for the weekend but says we can probably meet on Monday.
